Saint Jerome had a vision in a cave in Bethlehem
Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace…
Saint Jerome had a vision in a cave in Bethlehem:
the Holy Saviour appeared to him as a defenceless child. He revealed to
him the glory which was in store for him after death if he would remain
faithful to Him. Jerome asked in amazement: “What can I give You in
return?” He thought of his translations of the Holy Scripture in several
languages, which he had been working on for over 20 years. “I’ll give
You my work. And I’ll give You all I have. I’ll give You my health, my
skills and my life.” The Saviour said to him: “Jerome, you have it all
from Me.” “So what can I give You?” he asked sadly. The Saviour said to
him: “Jerome, give Me your sin! That’s why I came as a defenceless child. I paid for your sin with My blood when I died on the cross.”
Christ is born!! Today and every day in our life!
Ode One
Christ
is born, give ye glory! Christ cometh from heaven, meet ye Him! Christ
is on earth, be ye exalted! O all the earth, sing ye unto the Lord, and
chant with gladness, ye people, for He hath been glorified!
First Canon, Ode Four, Nativity Matins
Rod
of the root of Jesse, and flower that blossomed from his stem, O
Christ, Thou hast sprung from the Virgin. From the Mountain overshadowed
by the forest Thou hast come, made flesh from her that knew not welock,
O God who art not formed from matter. Glory to Thy power, O Lord.
As
dew upon the fleece hast Thou descended into the womb of the Virgin, O
Christ, and as drops of rain that fall upon the earth. Ethiopia and
Tarshish and the isles of Arabia, the kings of Saba, of the Medes and
all the earth, fell down before Thee, O Saviour. Glory to Thy power, O
Lord.
